Should You Advertise on TV?
When people discover my background in advertising, the questions flow. One of the most frequent questions is "Should I advertise on TV?"
I can't answer that questions until I ask a number of questions first.
Do you have an advertising plan?
Are you working on a firm budget?
What are you trying to accomplish with your advertising?
Where are you spending your money now?
Usually by the 4th question the happy face is one of disappointment.
Contractors don't build a building without a plan, and you shouldn't advertise without a plan. The first action is to determine what your advertising is to do. Most small and medium businesses do not have the bucks for long term image, so we focus on a call to action or proclaiming benefits (not features)
Can TV do that? Probably. Can you afford it? Probably not. Local TV ads even in the smallest of television markets are expensive. You can buy cheap ads, but the cost is factored to the number of viewers. The cheaper the ads, the fewer the viewers. How many folks do you know glued to the tube at 545 AM?
You can get on TV with a package of Cable Ads, but beware the number of viewers and the shoddy production. Get my article "Cable Ads 5 Bucks" by sending a blank eMail to MailTo:CableAds@BigIdeasGroup.com
Some people in business beleive you haven't "arrived" until your business is on TV and billboards. Funny, I know of hundreds of businesses making big bucks that don't use either.

How Do People Know Youre in Business?

LED Moving Message Displays
LED's are becoming more and more popular in all kinds of lighting fixtures. For simpler, slimmer design, moving message displays utilize Light Emitting Diodes (LED's) as the display technology. They offer bright displays that can be eye catching in right environment.
Creativity and Getting Outside of the Box
Sitting in front of a blank piece of paper? Wondering where in the world to start? I have a suggestion. Turn the page upside down. Or better yet flip it over onto it's backside. Let it know who's boss. If your first idea is terrible, write it down anyway. If the next one is silly, redundant or stupid, write it down. Who knows, it may end up being a comedy direction and that first terrible line may end up being the punch line. You never know. You are jumping off a precipice into the unknown world of creativity and you need to be a leaf at the mercy of the wind or you will come crashing down with your fears in a ball flames every time.

Media Savvy ? Media Skills For Rural Women
The ability to lead, persuade and influence are integral skills for effective leaders. The capability of telling a story that inspires, motivates and informs is an essential part of this process. In an age of convergence in the media and increased scepticism over traditional communication methods, a new breed of leader is emerging that sees the media as an opportunity and not a threat. They use the media in a pro-active way to build their community or organisation's image, reputation and identity.
The Benefits of Specific Advertising
The great Claude Hopkins (Author of Scientific Advertising) once said, "Platitudes and generalities roll off the human understanding like water from a duck. They leave no impression whatever."

The Principle Of Advertising Online
Advertising online is very similar to advertising in any environment. You really are trying to get your message or your product out there by the most cost effective means possible.
Do You Really Need a Brochure?
Traditional brochures typically tell the story of your company, i.e. they give evidence that you or your company have the wherewithal in personnel, capital, clout and expertise to perform the services you say you can perform or deliver the product you're selling. They are usually 3 or 4 panel affairs, printed on glossy paper, and featuring nice graphics or photographs. Think of company brochures as a resume for your business...Thus they are part of your "collateral" package.
Write Attention Getting Advertisements
The most important aspect of any business is selling the product or service. Without sales, you aren't generating any income and your business will die. All sales begin with advertisments. To build sales the ad must get the buyer to act. The ad writer must know what he or she wants the buyer to do.

Effective Promotions Through Local Classified Sites
Today's online marketplace is extremely competitive. People want to market their products and services with the most cost effective manner possible. Some will market the old fashion way by placing ads in local newspapers while others will aggressively market on the Internet for less money. There are many online resources for marketing but the most attractive marketing medium is free online classifieds. The reason for this is obvious. It doesn't get much better than free. Thousands of people promote products and services everyday via online classified sites. Since classified sites are free users often do not bother to take the time to construct quality ads that sell. If your going to promote your product or service shouldn't it be done so you can get a reaction? The answers is yes! The goal is to get a reaction. Those who place free classified ads should pay attention to detail. Describe your product or service by painting a clear and concise picture. If you answer all questions before they are asked it will save you a lot of time. If you opt not to specify details the prospective buyer might find a better advertisement. Before writing up the classified ad you should look around at other ads to see how others with similar advertisements construct their ads. A good ad will be concise. It will be descriptive and it will be an eye catcher. When creating an ad for a product you should always try to include a picture to show what you are selling. A picture can sell better than a few lines of text. This doesn't mean writing isn't important because the two ad components (picture & text) compliment each other. Make sure to poof the layout and grammar of your classified ad before submission.
