Security check on the gauge converted Palakkad – Pollachi Railway track

The Railway security wing of Civil Aviation Department of India may conduct the security check of gauge converted Palakkad – Pollachi Railway line by the 2nd week of July 2015. The exact date of the security check will soon be decided by the Civil Aviation Department. Meanwhile at the Palakkad Town Railway station, construction of Platforms are at the finishing stages and new platforms are now receiving trains from the junction railway station. Previously only the platform no:3 was functional .

Ballast Train Run

Heavy ballast train ran on these tracks several times,during final phases of the gauge conversion, so the authorities says they can proceed to do a security check immediately. Railways already completed the signal checking procedures on this track last month.

Bridges, Level Crosses & Subways

Palakkad – Pollachi broad gauge line consists of 7 over bridges, 129 small bridges, 13 subways, 35 level crossing ( out of which 6 are unmanned level crosses.). Railway station on this route are Palakkad Town, Pudunagaram, Vadakanyapuram ( Vadavannur), Kollengode ( OOttara), Muthalamada, Meenakshipuram, Aanamala Road & Pollachi Junction.

We hope first passenger train will start running on this newly converted track before this years Onam.
