Almost everybody has heard of the phrase ‘Health is Wealth”. Today a visit to the hospital is so expensive and treatment for major diseases like cardiac problems, cancer, renal failure etc can drain all your savings, unless you have a medical insurance.

Of-course, we can’t foresee unexpected health problems, but to a great deal we can take care to prevent diseases, through maintaining a healthy diet and following a consistent exercising routine. Your body needs minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, fats and vitamins, for its proper functioning. Eating a diet with the right proportion of these requirements is known as a balanced diet. Human beings should consume only the required calories. Excess calories will turn to fat and remain in your body, thus leading to increase in weight. The excess calories in your body should be burnt out by regular exercises.

Weight conscious people are trying out various types of diets and weight loss pills to reduce weight. Though some people are successful, a high percentage faces failures. But the product that is now becoming very popular for losing weight is the Green Tea. Today more and more people are realizing the effects and benefits of Green Tea, not only in losing weight, but as prevention for various diseases.

Green Tea originating from China is made from the unfermented leaves of a plant Camellia Sinensis. Studies have proved that antioxidants have a lot of health benefits. And the good news is that a high percentage of antioxidant is available in this Green Tea, because it is made from unfermented leaves. So if the properties of antioxidants can give you so many health benefits, you can imagine the good qualities of Green Tea. This excellent tea reduce the risk of Coronary heart diseases, reduces the level of Cholesterol, provides protection against various types of cancer such as, Breast cancer, Lung cancer, Ovarian cancer, Prostate cancer, Pancreatic cancer, Stomach cancer, Skin cancer, Colon cancer etc, prevents Diabetes, Liver disorders and many more diseases.

Tea is one of the oldest beverage, we find three varieties of tea, based on how they are processed. They are Black Tea, Green Tea and Oolong Tea. Green Tea today is very popular and largely in demand by a large majority of weight watchers. The tea leaves after being plucked are not fermented but dried to make this wonderful beverage. Studies have proved that people who drank Green Tea has a lower risk of heart diseases and the polyphenols help to prevent cancer and protect the skin from the harmful effects of the ultra-violet rays of the sun.

Though this tea has been consumed in China many thousands of years back, its popularity has increased only after it was announced as the best beverage for weight loss. But that does not mean that it should be consumed in large quantities. It should be consumed moderately because too much consumption of caffeine in the Green Tea can cause minor health problems.

Parambikulam wildlife sanctuary is one of the best places to go if you vist Kerala. Now there are more reasons to visit Parambikulam . 2 days ago, on the 2nd of September 2008, the santuary launched a Wildlife safari service for the tourists. There are 4 Tempo traveller vehicles which can carry a total of 44 tourists.

It was noticed that considerable disturbances were caused to the sanctuary because of the day visitors and their vehicles. So for the better management of the sanctuary private vehicles will be stopped plying in to the sanctuary from 2nd September, 2008 onwards.

The safari will take about 3 hours and it will pass through the following areas of Parambikula wildlife sanctuary .

Visit to Palaka Paandi Waterfalls,Kollengode, Palakad ( Kerala, India )

We reached this small town called Kollengode by 1 pm.

Kollengode is 23 km away from the district Headquarters Palakkad and 52 km away from Trichur.

and after lunch, we continued our journey though Pollachi Road. After going just a bit over a kilometer from Kollengode junction, we took a right turn and after some 6 km we reached this place after this point we should travel 2 km by foot to reach the Palakapaandi Waterfalls.

You can see a small hut there occupied by a local farmer and his family, you can ask permission to park your vehicle there and then take a walk to Palakapaandi Waterfalls site. If it is a monsoon season, you have to cross several very small streams to reach there.
